Has finally arrived MWHAHAH!!! I ordered it a month ago...it was released a month ago ergo Waterstones online sux balls!!! still so far so good, its reading pretty good.

...does anyone else ever get a little tired of these books usually always envolving chaos of some desciprtion, why cant the Imperial Fists be fighting Nids or Tau or Eldar its always Chaos. I'd say 90% of the short stories in the Heroes of the Space Marines book were based on chaos!!, Salamander was Chaos (and orks but Chaos was still there first before the Orks arrive), the entire Horus series is obviously chaos, Space Wolf omnibus...chaos, Faith and Fire...chaos, maybe I just keep choosing these by coinsidence...or am I?

the main enemy of the marines are the chaos as they were once battle brothers. so it just makes sense that most novels are marines against chaos

Yea and Ant says its because Chaos are more identifiable and therefore easier for people to relate to as they symbolize good vs evil. That may be but I would like to read a few more books that inovle the other races a little more. It was merely an observation and partly poor book choosing on my behalf? ^_~

its because imperial fist hate chaos leigons more than any other chapter as they feel they failed to protect the emperor at the siege of terra and if it werent for the traitors weakness they would have liberated the galaxy of the chaos taint instead of fighting for survival in a galaxy that is cold and unforgiving

yea maybe...I just want a some books to be less chaos based lol I think marines get enough coverage as it is. Orks vs nids or Tau orientated books etc just mix things up a little.

An Ork book would be awesome...

I think there are so many chaos related books because the biggest battle that goes on in the 40k universe is SM vs CSM. Its rich in history and easy
for a writter to write books about the subject. Although a SM vs Ork book would be probably be just as easy to write about!

A book of the rise of tau would be quality subject too! and the invasion of tthe tyranid swarms would be pretty cool but a very one sided read as i dont think the writter
could write on paper how the tyranids communicate with each other without taking away the monstrous element of them. Could you imagine a Carnefix speaking
in the queens english?? it would sound pump Smile you would think the Carnifix was some type of public school boy complete with blazer and cap! Razz

Anyway im rambling but good subject!! its always chaos orientated books!!

I think thats my point it just seems Chaos is an easy option to write about and with the Horus Series I thinks its an over load. GW being what they are not about to end the book series so we have is a constant stream of chaos novels...then a few side novels amnd 3 parters about renegades and traitors...lol mmmm anyway its not really a rant coz Im enjoying reading some of them and Sons of Dorn rox

Sons of Dorn simply Rocks!

But I agree i wouldn't mind hearing about the Tau or Eldar sides of the story or even Necrons.

My opinion is that the reason for doing CSM as the main antagonist is because the reader can relate more to the story of Good VS Evil more to the slightly Greyer shades of the above races.

The characters on either side of a Imp / Chaos story are easier to empathize with whether it's the upholding of the Emperor's Justice and the "Heroic" story of the defenders of mankind, or the rebellious thoughts given voice by the Chaos. Both are sides of humanity we experience fairly regularly.

Whereas the alien societies of Eldar, Ork, Tau etc. are well..... alien to us.

Anywhos enough ranting now, I need to go figure out a good way to paint Yellow Wink
