The Golden Goblin

The mighty creature known now as the Golden Goblin was once called Wa-Weedil, a lowly Boss of an unspectacular mob who spent most of his battles threatening, cajoling, bribing and encouraging his boys into battle. Wa-Weedil’s career took off though when he was given two great opportunities by Skarsnik, Warlord of the Eight Peaks. Firstly, recognising his abilities as a fighter rather than a leader, Skarsnik gifted Wa-Weedil Skwunge, a Great Cave Squig from his own spores. Secondly, Skarnsik involved Wa-Weedil in one of his infamous sneaky schemes to delay an Empire detachment from reinforcing the town of Averhof, which Skarsnik planned to attack.

Wa-Weedil seized both opportunities with gusto and planned the ambush of the detachment himself. Unfortunately for Wa-Weedil, the ambush went wrong from the start. As Skwunge burst from the undergrowth, Wa-Weedil clinging on desperately, the Empire halberdiers calmly formed a protective square around the central wagon. Suddenly, Skwunge slowed without warning. Wa-Weedil tried to kick his mount into action but his legs felt heavy and lethargic. Looking down, Wa-Weedil saw Skwunge and his own limbs, even his weapon, turning golden in hue.

Wa-Weedil was the victim of an Empire Gold Wizard travelling with the detachment. Within seconds, his entire body, mount and all his equipment had turned to gold. Wa-Weedil was not killed however. Now he is the GOLDEN GOBLIN, revered and worshipped by all greenskins as a living idol. On the battlefield he is an unstoppable mass of metal crushing foes at will!

The Golden Goblin takes up a hero slot. He must be used as presented here and may not be given additional weapons or equipment.

Special Rules

Fused
Wa-Weedil and Skwunge are now inseparably fused together as a single being – the Golden Goblin. The combined profile is represented below.

Living Idol
The Golden Goblin does not speak or interact with other Orcs and Goblins. He is treated as a living idol, but cannot lead troops in battle. As such, the Golden Goblin may not join units. In addition he can never be the army general.

‘eavy Metal
The Golden Goblin is made of pure gold. As such he is extremely heavy and difficult to injure. The Golden Goblin does D6 S5 impact hits and has a 1+ Armour Save. In addition, the Golden Goblin is immune to all spells from the Lores of Metal and Fire.

Look at that!
The presence of a being of pure gold on the battlefield can have an interesting effect on the enemy. In the compulsory moves phase of each enemy turn any enemy unit who can charge the Golden Goblin must take a leadership test. If the test is failed, the unit must charge. This does not affect units that are Immune to Psychology.
