40k Knockout tournament 2

am looking for players for the next 40k knockout tournament: need at least 8 players. This will be around December, 2000 pts on a std force org chart & from their codex. contact me here on the forum or at the club. Thanks.

Just an update on the knockout tournament.

I'm hoping to do this in February, maybe even late January. Format will be straight knockout, 2,000 pts on a std FOC. Armies to be taken from your relevent codex so no unnoficial/experimental rules can be used.

Armies DO NOT have to be fully painted but I would like to put pictures on the forum so if anybody wants to have something on there they can. Individual units
will be put on if people don't have their whole army painted as I know people just don't have the time to get things done.

Forgeworld models can be used, but only to represent the relevent vehicle/unit being used.

Tables will be set up by me before each game, I will get somone not involved in the tournament to set up the table I will be playing on. Players will be allowed to re-arrange their table up to a point if they're not happy with it.

All terrain/cover saves will be determined before each game starts i.e if anything counts as impassable & what cover saves apply.

Armies to be WYSIWYG if possible. Any unit /vehicle that isn't WYSIWYG the player MUST tell their opponent what that unit/vehicle has got before the game starts

Missions: 1st round. 4 objectives/spearhead.
2nd round. 1 objective in each deployment zone/ dawn of war.
Final: Annihlation/pitched battle.

I am looking for 7 other players, each player will need to pay £2.50 to go towards the prize for the winner.

Army lists are to be fixed & handed in 2 weeks before to an independent Club member. Changes will be allowed up to 1 week before, after that, NO changes can be made.

In case of a draw, the winner of their game will be determined by victory pts.
Any rules queries that cannot be sorted out with the rulebook I will either make a final decision or decide that it needs to be 4+'d in cases where it's not covered in the rules.

P.s try not to be too competitive with your army selection or in your games, after all it's all meant to be a bit of fun!

Did want 8 players, but am now trying to get 16. If there are 16 players there will be 4 rounds, the 1st round will be rolled for randomly & all the players will play whatever scenario/deployment is rolled.

Jay, just a thought but have you considered running it using the swiss format?

Just thinking we could do 4 rounds, have a clear winner at the end, everyone gets 4 games and always plays against someone with a similar record.

What do you/others think?

Not heard of that format, am open to this or other ideas. & as long as it doesn't drag the tournament on too long & other people are ok with it I might do it this way.

Will wait to see what everybody else thinks.

the swiss format sounds good in more than one way

Basically in the swiss format, the first round is a random draw. The second round then randomly draws the first round winners against other winners and losers against losers. The third round randomly draws 2-0 players, 1-1 players and 0-2 players against each other and so on.

In my old Magic the Gathering days we used this format all the time and it was really good. My explanation may make it sound complex but it is really easy and I am more than happy to help out with the pairings if you would like.
