| Spotted this on Bell of Lost Souls, interesting article. Would like peoples opinion on this (especially Mr O. Farmer). I know 8th Ed isn't out for a few days but it would be good too see what people think. Also, this is a chance for people to stake their claim for the 'best army' title. No power lists please, after all isn't WFB meant to be about tactics! http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2010/07/wfb-why-8th-has-made-empire-best-army.html | |

| Empire will be very strong but I think skaven will be the top dog because they have storm banner lots of even cheaper infantry, and magic defence vs shooting. A lot will depend on army FAQs.
Armies that have gained a lot tho are beastmen, Orc and goblins, ogre kingdoms, dwarfs and warriors of chaos.
Think tier 1 will be skaven, dark elves and empire tier 2 beastmen, woc, lizardmen, vampires, orcs and goblins, ogre kingdoms, wood elves tier 3 dwarfs, high elves, tomb kings tier 4 brettonians
wait and see tho see how the faqs effect each army

| vampires tier 2? with the magic how it will be, 2 dice cast and the number = power dice, so rolling a double 1 as a vamp would be horrendous with so much emphasis on trying to keep the army moving or keeping it together (invocation, raise dead etc). Also if a vamp miscasts or irrisistable he is still probably goin to bite the dust at the worst which means bad things for vamps i think. Other armies dont rely so much on there lords and heroes as much as vamps do cause without them then the army really struggles. But i agree Martin i dont think anyone will know until the erratica's are published | |

| U won't see evocating armies they will start maxed out. Vamps have access to all lores with forbidden, ws7 infantry with helm, best magic defence in coach, heavy hitting power with blood knights which can't really be diverted now and coach. Also grave guard and ghouls step up so will be hitting more and harder, overall vamps should b fine but will probably be a tier 2. Oh and don't forget u will be hitting everything before it hits u back with ur vamps. Only thing I can see is the lord being a noncaster just in case of miscasting and letting the lackies do the hard work. | |

| In 8th Ed, I.force & miscast are now on the same roll (a double 6). And looking at the miscast table you really, really don't want to miscast! | |

| Indeed that's why u throw lots of nice with cheap casters or characters that will be able to ignore miscasts like slanns etc. Expect to see lots of lore of life, death, fire | |

| Thanks for the read Jay. I like the Idea of running big units of crossbowmen and handgunners and then using them as a fighting force, I hadn't thought of that. I'm gonna try running a big unit of inner circle knights maybe 30 strong with a warrior priest. Not sure about the magic as I've never been a big fan of it, as we all know magic sucks! Lastly artiliery I say "Yes Please" No offence but you guys are going to get blown away before you even get to my lines. 3 cannons 3 mortars & 2 helstorms in 2000pts.
But I'll have to wait to see the Empire FAQ before I get to excited!

| Martin how will vamps ASF? also the vamp with helm has to be outside a unit right? which means he will probably just get picked off? | |

| Everything is initiative order, vamps have one of the highest in the game and then u can give one asl to ur opponents so vamps will asf now which is a benefitto them | |
