| Hi guys Just a quick note to let you know that SAW gaming are working hard on opening a big gaming venue in Plymouth in the next 6-8 weeks (hopefully) We aim for it to become the premiere venue for many different gaming systems in the SW and is called The Giant's Lair. We look to provide catering and bar facilities, lots of space to come and play your favourite games, whatever they are. There will be big serious tournaments, smaller fun tournaments, weekend events, campaigns, blood bowl leagues and tourneys, recognition for your mighty feats, a shop and a place for like minded people to come and chill out. We would be interested to hear your thoughts about what you would like to see in this venue and how you would want to use it, so please leave feedback as to your thoughts and wishes. We strive to provide the facilities that the local community as a whole can enjoy so the more feedback and ideas then the better it will be. We want club and community involvement as we aim to provide a place that you feel at home in and enjoy coming to and showing the same fantastic enthusiasm that is shown on a weekly basis at your clubs. If anyone is interested in helping out and becoming involved from step one then please let us know, we will welcome any help. Remember, help us to help you the more ideas and effort you give us the better a venue we can provide and hopefully put plymouth and the SW on the tourny and gaming map as a place to go and enjoy hours of fun playing with their toy soldiers, or paper rpg characters or board games or whatever else they use. Check out the link below to visit the facebook page to see photos of the venue as it is now. https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Giants-Lair/175416262527669#!/pages/The-Giants-Lair/175416262527669?sk=wallCheers guys Giant's Lair management | |

| Let me be the first to say this looks brilliant and I wish you guys every success with it.
I'll try to come up with some useful ideas once I have had time to give real thought to them.
I should also like to volunteer some help as far as I can given my other committments.
As a side note, having looked at the photos on Facebook, have you managed to get rid of that squatter yet?
Good luck guys. | |

| Unfortunately that's the resident gremlin that comes with the premises. We cant do much about it unfortunately though we will throw him the odd gamer now and again to appease him | |

| Just found out the news!
Looks like an interesting project - looking forward to seeing how it progresses.
If you can open all day on a Sunday and install a soft play area for the kids then i'd be an extremely happy man!

| so ...... am i missing something but isn't a soft play area a dedicated 40k room ok i'll get my coat!! on a more serious note, this venue came into being after many hours of discussion, cross swords in my mind offers a great deal of oppurtunity to enjoy the hobby that brings us to the club no matter what twice a week. we have accomplished tournament players, an exceptional standard of painting and sportsmanship second to none. all of this can be traced back to the goals of Ant, Dan, and Mike who with the help of their comittee, provide something unique in a basement in a pub somewhere. What would be the next stage? All too often a couple of us/you have to be shunted into the next room missing out on the buzz of the cross swords buzz, the scenary fantastic as it is compared to most clubs is stacked in the beer cellar, (anyone noticed the coke syrup on the floor). Giants lair is intending to give Cross Swords a home, a club house enviroment, in the pipeline are purpose built tables. we already have a castle and a space hulk, we have nearly finished a graveyard, a dock, a storm of magic table and 3 blood bowl pitches. progress is underway on mega city fight table (on the same scale as the castle). the new venue allows us to tackle things out of Ant and Mikes control, bar and food prices, being able to start earlier and finish later, so we can enjoy those games that overrun, and more flexibility over tournaments and campaign events, an extra dimension to what is offered at the pub. the venue allows us to keep the tables in situ, we don't need to break them down at the end of each evening. we now have the room to hold scenary workshops, a chill out bar area and an area for a shop area. thats the intention, over to you guys for feedback, questions and input. | |

| We are looking at a once a year fee of £10 basically to cover our alcohol licence fees, with that you will get a voucher for the store, discount off tourneys and cheaper food and drink. Therefore it makes much more economical sense to pay the £10 then get loads of discount throughout the year instead of paying our non member prices. Also on the opening day there will be a totally awesome and wonderous prize to one lucky member who signs up on the day as an added incentive to join.

| Indeedy doody
There is a taxi firm on the faraday mills business park who we hope to make a deal with to get cheaper taxis as well, making it easier and cheaper to get to and from the Lair.
We as a team and as gamers ourselves cannot wait to get this venture up and running, there is a very high excitement level | |

| How about having a decent sound system playing good atmospheric music (whatever the gaming system), like they do at Throne of Skulls at Warhammer World? | |

| I went on a scouting mission today to see how long it would take me to get there and it only took a few minutes longer than to the westward. Can not wait for it to open! | |

| But that is due to the roadworks, once the roadworks are completed, the new road will make it faster, which I am led to believe, will be completed in Octoberish.
